A
thriller by LESLIE DARBON
Directed by SALLY HUGHES
Riverside
Park Estate, close to Henley, reeks of affluence and the good
life. Home to business executives, company directors, successful
self-employed and their wives, life here is idyllic. A happy,
uncomplicated existence. It would appear the only worry is where
to take winter holidays. Klosters or The Bahamas? But beneath
this veneer lurks a seething cauldron of resentment, jealousy
and betrayal.
The ladies of Riverside Park have too much
time on their hands. Time to kill.
One life-changing day the death of an innocent
housewife rocks the very foundations of Riverside Park. How
did she die? Was it suicide? Was it murder? Until this question
is answered, fear stalks every man, woman and child. If it was
murder, who was responsible? Maggie Parkes is determined to
bring the murderer of her friend to justice. Enlisting the help
of three other housewives, she isolates the chief suspect, a
local Lothario. They entice him into a trap. He is forced to
defend himself. He knows that to lose means death. But it soon
becomes clear to these four sleuthing housewives that all is
not as black and white as it seems in Riverside Park Estate.
What goes on behind closed doors is about to be revealed in
the most dramatic and frightening manner. What they learn about
that fateful day will scar their lives forever.

LESLIE
DARBON (Playwright) I used to live in the area. I even wrote
a play about it called "The Townsend on Thames Affair" - which
sank without trace after a dubious outing in an obscure rep
oop north - Watford actually - (they don't understand us Southerners,
do they?) A few years later I decided to go upmarket and moved
from Henley to Croydon Oh. You may well ask where Croydon Oh
is? It is, in fact, Croydon. But, when anyone asks me where
I live now and I say Croydon - they always say - Oh! Can't imagine
why. I still have links with Henley though. Two of my beautiful
grandchildren - Phoebe and Harry - live here, so here I am again
with another play about Henley - "Time To Kill". Could you please
do me a favour and sort of - like it. Not for my sake, you understand.
For my grandchildren. Only I don't want them to be bullied in
the playground if you all think it's a pile of rubbish. What
else have I done? Trouble is if I go into detail it gives my
age away and I go around telling everyone I'm twenty nine. I
did work on a TV series which started out with the words "Evening
all." Then I progressed to other rubbish like "Department S"
"Jason King" - "The Adventurer" - "Courier" - "Shoestring" -
"Bergerac" - "Moon and Son" - "Crossroads" … all right, all
right, I admit - I'm over thirty. Plays - real plays - for the
theatre, I mean - "Two And Two Make Sex" - "No, No, Not Yet"
- "Who Goes Bare?" - real kitchen sink stuff - "Double Edge"
- "A Murder Is Announced" - "Cards On The Table" - "Dead On
Time" -"Murder By Proxy" ….. look - I'm boring myself to death
so Lord knows what it must be doing to you - but there were
seventeen all told - and all written before the age of thirty
five!
